BASKETBALL We're The Champs Coach Williams receives victory ride. I Determination, always the essential to success, led to a State Basketball Tournament berth for the 1964-65 In- dians. An overall I7 won and 9 lost record was no indicative of the true power and ability of the Indians, as they l only bowed four times to Class B I teams in court action. In the Western Kansas Educational l Association League, Leoti won four league contests and dropped two for third place. ' In tournament play, Tom Williams led his charges to six successive victories before their defeat in State Tournament play by the eventual champion of State Class B basketball, Osage City. To win the district crown, Leoti dropped Bird City, Brewster and Tri- bune. In regional play Elkhart, Fowler and Tribune fell victim to the Indians on successive nights. To loyal fans, the Indians are the CHAMPS. 72
