VICTORIOUS SEASON FOR GIRLS' TR The Flying Turtles take the hurdles! This year for the first time in their three-year history, the girls track team was victorious. They won three of the five meets in which they participated. At the state l-A meet at McPherson, Collegiate placed twelfth out of thirty schools, tying the meet record for the standing broad jump. Overall the girls, track team broke thirteen school records. They also were, for the first time, victorious in the Col- legiate Invitational. This year the team's season was the most successful year Collegiate has had in its history. In the two dual meets against Udall and Trinity the Spartans were undefeated. In the one triangular meet against Berean and Central Christian, the team was victorious once again. In the bigger invitationals the Spartans made a showing with their relays and hurdle races. For the first time since Collegiate has had a track invitational, they took first place. At the S.P.C. the eight members of the team that went scored five points, the most ever scored at the S.P.C. by a Collegiate team. The team consisted of twenty-three membersg eight seniors, two juniors, six sophomores, and six freshmen. This year a total of fourteen records were broken, among them the discus, high jump, shot put javelin, two mile, two mile relay, pole vault, 120 yard high hurdles, 180 yard low hurdles, 440 yard relay, mile relay, mile run, and 880 yard run.

GYMNASTICS The girls' gymnastics team this year was again actively involved in determined practice and serious competition. With Linda Northcutt as their coach, the girls competed in twelve meets. They were unde- feated in Kansas and second in the Missouri Valley. The seventh, eighth, and ninth grades took the Great Plains Junior Championship. In Junior Olympic competition, the Spartans placed second, and team member Grace Kruger will represent the Missouri Valley in the Junior Olympic Regional Competition. the most successful ever xg T thirty-one GIRLS TENNIS The tennis team did quite well this year with members Jennifer Blood, Kathy Rogers, Melody Isern Pam Mason Elaine Simpson Patricia Kruger, Lindsay Friend Lisa Velie and Kristy Harter In matches against Salina and Anthony the team took first place In Arkansas City they took third place and in Hutchinson fourth place.
