JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL N Koch calls victory play. This year the Junior Varsity football team had its best season in its history. Better playing and harder work were evident throughout the season. Part of the credit for the apparent success ofthe team can be given to Coaches Roger Carvallo and Ken Fast. After losing the first game, the Junior Varsity won 6-0 over St. Francis and the following week they soundly de- feated St. Joseph, 44-0. The winning streak slowed in the next few games, as their opponents overcame the Spartans. The seventh and final game ended scoreless. The Spartans finished fourth in the league. The eighth grade class this year was the first to have tak- en full advantage of three years of Junior Varsity football. The experience gained from these three years will probably be advantagious to the future Varsity team. Bespattered but not bewildered. .. ,Ar ! JUNIOR VARSITY SQUADQ QL. JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL EIGHTH FORM BASKETBALL TEAM QL. TO RJ Coach Graf, Craig Slawson, Walter Berry, Eric Chesky, Chuck Trombold, .Ieff Mills, Doug Drevets, Cal Cofer, Lyndon Hendry. The sixth grade team this year did not do as well as it would have liked, the season record was 2-4. The team is looking forward to a better season in 72-73. The seventh and eighth grade junior varsity teams finished their 71-72 season well, with the seventh grade team ending undefeated. The outstanding rec- ord can be attributed to a combination of an outstand- ing coaching staff, and to skills in shooting, ball han- dling, and rebounding. The coaches for both teams, as well as for the sixth grade team, where Jim Graf and Roger Carvallo. Each weekend they helped the teams, both in victory and defeat. The eighth grade team ended with a 6-2 season, which was not as well as they had done as seventh graders, however, they finished second in the league, missing first place by one free throw. Several of the eighth grade players should be an asset to the Varsity team next year. tw? 12... ' e , gf ,E gf W . .
