Accompanying us on our way is a person of industrious manner and great enthusiasm for her life ' s work — teaching. Her fairness in decisions both in and out of class and her method of presenting material to her students and her capacity to stimulate students ' interest in her classes are only a few of the many outstanding qualities which make her the great person she is. Her quiet, engaging personality, her patience; her understanding of others — these have won for her the lasting friendship of all those who have come in contact with her. She is the type of teacher we all like to refer to as my favorite teacher. A distinguished alumna of Whittier High School and the University of Southern California, a sponsor of various student activities, and an active participant in the community describe some of her many activities. With great pleasure, we, the students of Whittier High School, take great pride in dedicating the ' 55 Cardinal Annual to MISS FRANCES KING.

Mr. C. H. Wennerberg, Superintendent and Secretary to the Board of Trustees The past year has been one of great change and accomplishment in the Whit- tier Union High School District. Many important decisions were made and the fourth high school started, construction to be completed by September of 1955. High praise and recognition has come to the district from all over the country, and many of the practices in each of the schools and the district administration have been studied and used by other districts. Highest of all have been the splendid achievements of the graduates of El Rancho and Whittier as verified by many scholarships and awards given to them. On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the District, and the entire administrative staff, I congratulate all of the 1955 graduates.
