Richardson Dean of Slrudenis and Direcfor of Admissions DEDICATICN Sfudenfs passing fhrough fhe porfals of Whiffier College have come 'ro know and love fwo oufsfanding men- Dean Kennefh Richardson and Dr. Charles Cooper. Bofh men have made Themselves an imporfanf and vifal parf of our family spirif. In fhe nine years fhaf Dean Richardson has served fhe college as admissions direcfor and dean of sfudenfs, improvemenfs in fhese areas have been noficeable. Our school was admiffed fo fhe world-wide College Enfrance Examinafion Board, fhus beginning fhe scholasfic appifude fesfs fhaf will be faken by enfering sfudenfs in fhe years fo come. l-lis parficipafion in fhe formafion of fhe Board of Publicafions, revisions of fhe sfudenf body consfifufion, and reorganizafion of fhe men's sociefies is indeed signifi- canf. Many never realized his addifional work as coach for fhe Cross Counfry Track Team and as fhe college's represenfafive in many sfafe and nafional concerns. Nof only in fhe posifion of adminisfrafor buf in all kinds of counseling Dean Richardson has been our personal friend. In him we found fhe friendly spirif personalized because we felf he was really glad fo help us on any occasion. The foreign sfudenfs can be even more grafeful fo him for fhis reason. l-le says his work wifh fhe college age in view- ing fheir growfh will be his mosf lasfing memory. Of our faculfy friends, Dr. Cooper has been one of fhe besf. l-le joined fhe Whiffier College sfaff in i933 and has devofed fhese years since fo helping sfudenfs wherever he has had confacf wifh fhem. l-le feels fhaf his mosf excifing memory will be of fhe fime he spenf as direcfor of plays in Poef Theafer. ln I946 he disconfinued his work fhere fo 'reach a wide variefy of courses in liferafure, play producfion, and fine arfs. As a dynamic insfrucfor in 'rhe English deparfmenf he appreciafes fhe freedom he has had fo develop his classes originally. This facf had ifs resulfs in fhe evidence of his fhree books, The Arfs and l-lumanifyf' Preface fo Poefryf' and his lafesf, Preface fo Drama. Fine Arfs sfudenfs will never forgef his influence in fhese subiecfs. Dr. Cooper has given much fime and inferesf along wifh ofhers in fhe developing of fhe infegrafion program as if is now. l-le says fhaf his pleasanf associafions wifh sfu- denfs and faculfy make his work here memorable. l-le will confinue fo serve fhe school as professor af large. As Dean Richardson goes on fo anofher adminisfrafive posifion and Dr. Cooper refires fo resf and build his own home, we will fhink of fhem offen. Because fhey have made such a lasfing effecf on our lives. we wanf fo dedicafe our book fo fhem. The curfain rises And +l1e sfage is se+. Adminislrafors are +l1e conduclors Bu'r fhe facully composes 'rhe melody And we make lhe harmony.
