Retirees Mrs. Fay Brewster On June 19, 1987, Mrs. Fay Brew- ster will retire after 17 years of dedi- cated service to the WPCS system as School Nurse and teacher in the Route 11 Building. Students and faculty always found a sympathetic ear and a reassuring voice through their times of illness and problems. The myriad of situa- tions and traumas she has dealt with boggles the mind. She was always steady under crisis, she was always soothing to the afflicted, and patient for the worried. Fay and her husband Paul plan on doing some traveling after her retire- ment. Mrs. Ruth Simpson Ruth Simpson retires after 27 years of service to the Elementary Office. At the beginning of her employment in 1960, she worked with Miss Nettie Clark until 1971. From then on she has worked with Mr. Michael Heller. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Whit- ney Point Central School in 1944. Af- ter graduation she was employed by the law firm of Merchant, Waite, and Waite in Binghampton, NY. She married Ed Simpson while he was in the service and has since raised their five children. After retirment, she plans to enjoy her 13 grandchildren and pursue her hobbies. Winters she will spend in Florida camping and fishing with her husband. Mrs. Ida Brannon In the past 31 years, students from all walks of life have been taught school subjects, and a little bit of love in the classroom of Mrs. Ida Brannon. Mrs. Brannon received a BS from Plattsburgh State Teachers College in Home Economics. She then went on to receive certification in elementary education. In 1948, Mrs. Brannon began her teaching career in Milford, NY, then in Oxford Academy. In Maryland, Florida, and Virginia she taught in the First Grade. Since Sept. 1968 Mrs. Brannon has been teaching at the First Grade level. She will cherish the memories of her teaching years. Mr. John Rugg Having served thirty-three years in education as a teacher and administra- tor, Mr. Rugg has chosen to retire at the end of the 1986-1987 school year. Mr. Rugg’s teaching career began in Williamson Central School, after receiv- ing his BS and Masters degree from Amherst Colelge and Syracuse University. In Williamson he was a secondary science teacher for three years, then moved on to Watervllle, NY as an Assistant Junior-Senior High School Princi- pal for an additional three years. In 1960 he left there to become Principal, grades 7-12, at Whitney Point. Mr. Rugg has been very active over the years in promoting many programs within the District and has participated in numerous staff programs, designed to enhance the overall educational opportunities for students. Among Mr. Rugg’s outside activities are the Rotary International where he took leadership roles in several activities. He also served as Boy Scout Master for many years as well. Singing has always been a favorite outside activity with participating in the Church choir and several lead roles in community musi- cals. He hopes to travel and maybe do some limited work in education.

DEDICATION: CLARENCE HARRIS He is always there with a smile. He is the one so many kids turn to when their sky turns black, he is the one that always has the time. He is a friend, he is a confidant, he is steady and loving. If anyone could be called good with kids it is Clarence. He is consistent and fair. He is firm but fun. The students always knew that if their world seemed unbearable and grim, Clarence could lighten their load, brighten their day, and somehow make the pain go away. He drove the kids to school and he helped them move on with their lives. He fixed as many lives as he did broken machinery in school. His ti- tle should read; “Clarence Harris — Fixer of machin- ery and mender of kids, teacher of life and valued beyond words.” 3

Two years later she was appointed School Nurse Teacher with primary duty being health teacher to the 7th and 8th grades. She continues to serve In this position as well as help In the Health Office for 8-9. She has exhibited high professional standards through continual specialized training In such areas as value clarification, death and dying, and drug abuse.
