Mr. Leslie Strong President W 1 Mr. Francis Kennedy Mr. Charles Pratt Donald Edmister Clerk Board of' Education gf' Francis Mullins Supervising Prin. The school year 1968-69 saw the cost of education rise to a new high as the pub- lic's enthusiasm to pay reached a new low. For many administrators it became a year to forget rather than a year to remember as they dealt with priority and evaluation, racial imbalance, negotia- tions and teacher militancy, world-wide student activism, relocation caused by urban renewal, consolidation, identifi- cation of the gifted disadvantaged, talk of a longer school year and the formal education of three and four year olds. In review, we count among our blessings our School Board, teachers, pupils and a concerned public, as we realize many of the controversial problems have not yet become our own. The first duty of government still re- mains the encouragement of education and the duty of financing is a must for the federal, state and local governments. The basic commitment should be to accept the challenge with an all out team ef- fort. We have watched the Class of 1969 pro- gress toward emotional stability and ma- turity during some trying years. For them, their senior year should be a year to remember with much happiness and much thankfulness . We all join in wishing them every suc- cess in their continuing education. OSMER J. BROOKS 1968-69 was a HYear to Rememberu to me because it was the completion of 35 ' years of a good life, C33 at Whitney Point Centralb in the teaching profes- sion. During that time I have made many friends, and also a few enemies, but the pleasure of working with young people . has been rewarding and if I were able to Osmer Brooks choose a future at this time I am sure ViC9 PFinCiPa1 that I would make the same choice of a ' profession.
