During the last school year W. P.C.S. has had three exchange students. Bill James of Cas- tle Creek spent three months in Columbia during the summer of 1965. Eduardo Toral of Quito,Equador arrived in Whit- ney Point in Septemberg Brad Barker of Gladstone, Queens- land Australia came here in January 1966. Bill, you explain. You speak the best English. Brad Barker is the holder of a Rotary Inter- national Scholarship. Having completed high school,he is planning to study pharmaceutical science at the University of Queensland so he will be able to take over his father's bus- iness. The elder of his two sisters is a chemist and the younger is a ballerina with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Brad enjoys sports especially rugby and swimming. During the Australian hunting season he has gone after kangaroos and wild ducks. Snow was a new ex- perience, and the cold weather was quite a change. '9af5 gg 123 Q37 ?f., ,,., -55 '..' The Toral family has also HEgad, It,s cold visited the U.S. so Eduardo was in fact not a complete stranger here. up here.U Bill James was sponsored by the International Fellwoship in his visit. He lived with a family of eight in Manizales. Despite the fact that he was living at an altitude of about 7,000 feet, he found the people very warm and friendly. For amusement he attended parties and dances. Living in Colum- bia, Bill found the prices to be very cheap except for cars and soap. He also visited the capital city of Bogota, and the cities of Cali and Cartagema. All three boys have many enjoy- able experiences from their vi- sits to foreign lands and their job of being international amb- assadors of goodwill. 1 Eduardo, Brad, Bill and Chris, enjoy a friendly international get-together. 30 Exoha nge Students Chuck Manasse shows how Studen Council earns money without really trying.
