DEDICATIO KATHRYN M. SCOTT Retire and enjoy it-so says Mrs. Kathryn M. Scott of Park Street, Whitney Point, N. Y. When school buses started run- ning last fall, and even though her daughter Marie must sign in at the usual time, Mrs. Scott stayed right at home and filled her days with housework, reading and gadding about. Did she miss school ? No, she was quite happy about staying home, although, she confessed she did miss the students and teachers. But then, her thoughts carried her along to a winter trip to Flo- rida and soon it would be spr- ing. She would visit her dau- ghter Marion and family in Buffalo. And who knows? May- be another summer would mean another trip with her family to some new and interesting corners in the United States. Born in Kirkwood, Mrs. Scott was graduated from Cortland Normal. Then she taught in the ole Whitney Point village school. When centralization came, Mrs. Scott came right into the new school with her third graders in 1936. It has been a steady line of third graders year in and year out until June 1960, when she re- tired from teaching school. 4
