FOREWORD Just as Janus kept his eye on the Past and the Future, the students and faculty of W. P.C.S. keep their eyes on past activities and future success of education and expan¬ sion of the school. The editorial staff of the 1960 Maroon and Gold has kept a watch¬ ful eye on school activities and has set down a pictorial record of all of them. 2 CO-EDITORS Lamoine Huntley, Carol Eaton 3 DEDICATION Mrs. Clara Rozelle, a veteran teacher at W.P.C.S., resigned her position as a teacher in the fifth grade November 6, 1959. Mrs. Rozelle taught at Whitney Point from 1935 to the time of her resignation. Her first job was in Putnam County in 1913, with a salary of $396 a year. She graduated from New Paltz Normal and has taught 43 years and 7 months since then. Mrs. Rozelle ' s key to success has been, Love your children enough to make them mind. Mrs. Rozelle now makes her home at Lisle. This past winter, how¬ ever, she spent at Fort Pierce, Florida. 4 FAC ULT Y With their watchful eyes open, faculty mem¬ bers and the administration staff guide students through the school year. MAIN OFFICE Busy every minute each day, Mrs. Storrs and Miss Hill are right on the job in the main office as secretaries and receptionists. VICE PRINCIPAL OSMER J. BROOKS Each day Mr. Osmer Brooks, Vice-Principal keeps both eyes on school records and his Business Law class. VICE PRINCIPAL OSMER J. BROOKS Dear Seniors: Congratulations on your graduation. It has been necessary for you to work in order to deserve this diploma. Let this be the guiding principle in your life. Work hard and you will receive the gift and gratitude of all people. Use your eyes to take a long look down the past, use them to see where you can fit best into the life of your community, use them to ascertain where you can serve your fellow man, use them to recognize the sore spots in our civiliza¬ tion. And when you have done all this, use your boundless energies to help shape the destiny of our nation to the end that fam¬ ine, greed, lust, and war are eliminated from our way of life. s. 6 BOARD OF EDUCATION Left to Right: Mr. Hiram Goodrich, District Superintendent, Mr. Francis Kennedy, Mr. Charles Pratt, Mr. Kenneth Stearns, President, Mr. Leslie Strong, Mr. Franklin Pendell, Mr. Carl Bird, Clerk.
