F. and Chenango Val- ley. The team traveled to Greene November 1 for the Sectionals Al in all their first season was a terrific one. CROSS-COUNTRY Row lt . Stecker, B. Poyer, R. Traver. H. TRACK 1958 Whitney Point Track Team, having won 8 track meets presented the school with 3 trophys for taking first place in the Section 1 Class B Champions and for taking first place in Section 10 Class B Finals The team also were champ ions of the Susquenango League The teams first win was a triangular meet at Newark Valley. The Eagles rack- ed up 62 l!2 points out of a total of 126. Still winning they defeated Oxford 61-43 on home grounds. The 3rd meet they crushed basketball rival Sidney 72- . Going strong with growing confi- dence the boys defeated Chenango Forks and Homer with a score of 70 to 29 l!2 points a piece. Looking towards the Sectional at Cortland the boys went and brought their alma mater back its first trophy by defeating 6 other schools. Before the finals on May 24 1958 the Eagles defeated Greene and Harpursville and then traveled to Cortland to win the finals and another trophy by defeating ll other schools. On May 29 Don Driscoll represented the Eagles in the 100 yd. dash at Cornell t try and qualify fOr Class B' finals in West Point. He won the right to go but did not place.
