BACK ROW: Bobby Perkins, Ellis Faulkner, Jerry Taylor, Rory Younger, R. Q. Grant- ham, Jakey Younger, Mike Callaway. Lacking height and experience, the Whitney Wildcats landed among the also-rans in the i956-57 sea- son. Highlight of the season was Whitneys winning the consolation title of the Itasca Tournament. Rory Younger paced the Wildcat scorers and finished the 429 points for the season that placed him 14th in scoring in the Central Texas area. Rory was also picked on the All-District Team. Jerry Taylor and Bobby Perkins ranked high in the scoring also. With three starters back for the 1957-58 season things look bright and Taylor is expected to be the top scorer for the Cats. Only two seniors were on the team last season. Valley Mills won the district title along with bi-district honors but fell in the Regional meet at Brownwood. Whitney, Valley Mills and Mosheim are likely to be the strong contenders for the flag this coming season .
