Last year the diamondmen really outdid themselves, losing only one regular sea- son game. That loss was to Findlay, the eventual state champ. In regular season play Whitmer had a 15 and 1 record. The Panthers went on to beat Start, St. John ' s, and Woodward in the sectional tournament, and Sylvania in the district. The season ended in the regional tournament when Whitmer played Warren Western Reserve and lost. The team ' s final record was 19-2. Contributing to the success on the mound were FJon Miners, Tim Siefert, and Mike Honas. The infield starters were Dave Duhaime at first base. Bob Leist at sec- ond, Dave Williams at shortstop, and Jerry Norton at third. The outfield had Denny Erswell, Tim Black, and Rob Sharrow. Marc Cupp was behind the plate. The reserve baseball team featured Barry Geordt and Jim Chandler at first, Phil Knisely and Rick Wilson at second, and Jeff Alt and Art Allsop at third. Tom Inman was the starting shortstop, while Mike Malinovsky, Marc Dewood, and Tom Barri- ger played the outfield.
