UMD' Another year has rolled by and it is time to affix our autographs of approval to its worthwhileness. The one big question in the mind of every Whitmer student is, 'Have I made the most out of this past year to prepare me for what is to follow ?' We hear much said today about post- war planning, and we are made to wonder just what to expect and what we can do about it. One thing is certain, we are living in changing times. In fact the most certain thing is change. As a law of the universe it becomes the measuring stick of our progress in it. Do not be concerned about what to- morrow may bring, but rather live and produce your best for today and with the opportunity of today's preparation, tomorrow's problems will, by the law of change, solve themselves. Thus we will have done our part in world progress. Elmer Marks. IELMER MARKS EDUCATION Bessie Meyers, Stephen Donath, Orra Benton PAGE NINE

r A. N. THURSTON Um.-5 It is my sincere hope that the years spent in Whitmer High School have given the students an appreciation of the worth while things of life, a sense of values which will help them in the trying times all of us are facing. As men and women each one will play a responsible part in recon- structing a peace time world. I trust every one will find within himself the spiritual resources necessary for this work. Today many former students, as Well as some faculty members, and one board member are in the armed forces. Others will follow. A few have already made the supreme sacrifice. To those now serving we wish God-speed and a safe return. May the les- sons learned and the friendships that have been formed at Whitmer pre- pare you for the great work of building a better America and a better world that lies ahead. A. N. Thurston.
