K mi I iss Iiowik Ruiz Ll NSS 'NIOVIO In Uurrrf ii f,1l7 lufurf Lim HE GRADUATING class of 1943 entered john Vlfallace Whitiner High School in September 1939 You could see frightened fresh men running everywhere Mr Marquis class advisor howev er straightened us out Our first president was Lowell Roe We of course w ere a little green at the beginning but had a number of afternoon dances and a successful skating party The I'rosh year culminated with a swell picnic at Forest Park The Sophomore year opened quite a bit different from the Freshman XVe no longer were the ones to be teased we w ere the ones to do the teasing That was the year we thought we w ere grown up little did we know M Xfarquis w as still able to bear with us XXfe had our electron of officers and dances and skates that helped to keep the coins of our treasury company NX7e held a class meeting toward the end of the year to decide on where to hold our last big get together of the yeir Wfe went to Belle Isle on the Steamer Put In Bay Wfe came back to our Iunior yeir none the worse for the wear XVe started off again with Mr Marquis is advisor In the first class meet ing of the year Rudy Ondrus was chosen to help Mr Marquis in leading our energetic class Toward the middle of the year we decided to turn our hand to icting and produced with much success we thought our unior Plty Home Ior Christmas Ior thc benefit of the then departing Senior class we put on 1 little fracas technic illy termed the unior Senior Party 'Ihen too there was th it unforgettible unior Prom which was held at the Toledo H icht Club immv Reemsnyder furnishing the ine Something new this year w is the Iield Day replacing the innual class picnics and parties Through the combined efforts of the members of the class ind honest-to-goodness work. we uniors walked away with the trophy. XVe havc comc back this year as sophisticated f and partially edu- cated Seniors. XVe have had to abandon a few of our accustomed activities in the course of the year but have tried to carry on cheerfully.
