Literary Club Under the leadership of Miss Katherine Kenealy, the Literary Club commenced its activ- ities by electing the following officers on October 2, 1940: President, Eleanor Reed, Vice-President, Glenn Perkinsg Secretary, Jean Harperg Treasur- er, Frances Harringtong Program Chairman, Freda Archibald. Meetings were held on the second Monday of each month. At several of these meetings vari- ous book reports were given. At one meeting the club presented an interesting program for the Reading Club of the Whitman Woman's Club 25 when an original drama entitled Out of the Fog was given. On February 13, the annual tea for the Student Council and the Faculty of the school took place. The program consisted of a short play, the his- tory of a book, and readings. After the program, the guests were served refreshments. On March 10, the club held an informal quiz for its mem- bers. The winners were presented with different types of candy. The following monthly meetings were spent having reviews of modern books and moving pictures. The annual outing took place in June.

Instruction is through lectures, solution of business problems, class discussions, motion pictures and talks by business men. College of Engineering Provides complete college programs in Engineering with professional courses in the fields of Civil, Mechanical if with Diesel, Aeronautical, and Air Condi- tioning optionsb, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, and Engineer- ing Administration. General engineering courses are pursued during the freshman yearg thus the student need not make a final decision as to the branch of engineering in which he wishes to specialize until the beginning of the sophomore year. Co-operative Plan The Co-operative Plan, which is available to upperclassmen in all courses, provides for a combination of practical industrial experience with classroom instruction. Under this plan the student is able to earn a portion of his school expenses as well as to make business contacts which prove valuable in later years.
