EDWIN W. ROWELL, Superintendent of School! That place at which the earth and sky appear to come together is our horizon. We may consider this to be the farthest point at which we can see anything on earth, We realize that the horizon may be limited in its distance from us by hills, buildings, or any other obstruction. We know that as we reach increasingly higher points, whether by climbing a tree, a toll builds ing, or a hill, that our horizon will increase. The more effort we expend, the higher we go, the farther we can see Our horizon expands, Let us change our line of thought from a description of our physical horizon to the idea of our mental one When we understand on idea, we say I see lust as truly as when we first see a new view from the top Of a hill, One of the mazn purposes for spending so much time and energy on your education over the years has been to help you to see more, to have a greater understanding of your world and your relationship to it. Unlike the measurable distance of our physical horizon, our mental horizon seems to be unlimited. By risng over such obstacles as preyudrce, intolerance, arovrncialtsm, and ignorance, mankind understands more and more In this way you can expand your mental horizons forever. l extend my personal congratulations and best wishes for future success and happiness to the members of the Class ot l96O.
