Swing Choir ‘] 7 é vet Swing Choir: Left to Right: Cindy Dormins, Shannon Swick, Angie Sexton, Greta Bolinger, Kim Hoover, Michele Huff, Judy Hinds, Stephanie Macklin, Tina Hammel. 2d Row: Wendy Lortie, Tina Sammons, Randa Huff, Kelli White, Cindy Howk, Denise Bowles, Tina Imel, Cheryle Bunch, Elicia Imel, Karen Engelberth, Mrs. Darley. This year, the choirs participated in many events, both for the community and for school. They also took part in contests and observed the Christmas show “A Wreath of Carols” by the Manchester College choir. Their chief money-maker was the candle sales at the beginning of the year, in which they made over $1000.00. Activities in which the swing choir participate in were singing in the Bed Race, Queen Contest, Bed Race Parade, SSS Daddy Date Night, Pierceton Firemen Christmas Party, The South Whitley Lions, and SSS Ideal Ladies Tea. This year the Gospel Choir also kept very busy with the SSS Grandparent’s night, Sundays at Spring Creek Church, St. Francis Xavier Church, Pleasant View Church, South Whitley Methodist Church, and Larwill United Methodist Mother Daughter Banquet. All the choirs participated in the Open House, Christmas program, Spring Program, and Graduation. This year Tina Hammel, Karen Engleberth and Richard Lysaght were eligible to be in the Tri-State Choir, sponsored by I.U.P.U. in Fort Wayne. The choir members also attended District Contest. Those placing in State contest at Butler University were Tina Sammons with a first place vocal solo and Rhonda Wilkinson with a second place piano solo.

No bo © © Whitko Marching The Whitko Marching Pride had a ) » a very successful year. We won a first eee division ratings at Chesterton invitational, District Contest, and Regional Contest. A lot of hard work and long hours were put in by the band members, auxilary squad and directors. Thanks to the generosity of the communities and the dedication of the members and their parents, the band will be purchasing new band uniforms for the new marching season.
