It was a productive year for the National Honor Society. For Thanksgiving, baskets of food were given to two families in the area. They also made Christmas a happier time for needy children by donating and wrapping toys which were distributed throughout both Kosciusko and Whitley Counties. As in the past, National Honor Society Induction was the club's most important event. Thirty-two new members were chosen to join the group and were inducted during the evening ceremony, where they were presented with their certificates and pins. At the end of the year members presented Mrs. Dunn with a plaque and a rosebush in appreciation of the time and hard work she has given to make National Honor Society a success. The first year of French Club was an active one. There was definately a French atmosphere at the carry-in supper held at the home of Melanie and Matt Welker. Members ate by candle light with French music softly playing in the background. Nearly 25 members attended a French music concert held at Harding High School. Whitko students along with groups from six other schools listened to the fast music of Acadia. Highlighting the year for 18 students and chaperones Miss Wendy Wildman and Bob Long was an eight day trip to France during spring | vacation. In Paris they saw famous landmarks such as Notre Dame and The Eiffel Tower. By | bus they traveled along the Loire Valley and toured several old castles. They also took a special trip to the town of Chamonix where they rode the highest cable car in the world up Mont Blanche. After a two night stay in Switzerland the group flew back to Chicago.
