Did these boys just arrive? Maurice Morrison thinks his friend's elaborate explanation is very funny, but just wait your turn, Maurice. How will you explain? Mr. Sands has heard them all. Report to the Main Office”’ Meet the staff and faculty members of Whitko High School as they work and relax. Make your first call at the reception desk on an informal tour through the building. Mr. Irwin is filling in at the switchboard as Mrs. Rae is checking the revolving file to see if Don Keel is really in Mr. Helm's 4th period class. Did you say 4th period? Why, that's lunch hour. All of it? Mrs. Likens checks a record book for Mr. Reed--date April 16, 1974. It wasn't until May 27th that she let us know that she wouldn't be with us in that office every day next year. Best wishes for many pleasant retirement years, Mrs. Likens! (as ELL i | ! LL STUDENT COMMONS ae @ SURGE AREA = = , STUDY CENTER a «| SEATS EATING a ; 5120 94. ft. Mrs. Wendell shows her glass collection to Mrs. Moe-- who is retiring and won't be with us next year--not regularly, at least. Are these teachers always this happy? It must have beena good joke for Mr. Marsh, Mr. Kennedy, Mrs. King, Miss Thompson, Mr. Imin, Mr. Jensen (student teacher) and Mr. Dilling. We thought a coffee break at the round table was for serious discussion. Return Via the Office Mr. Mahnensmith won't be around in the '74-'75 school year to coach football--or to supervise the typing, telephone or intercom system in the office, so perhaps he can re- lax. Seriously, how- ever, we all, students, staff, and faculty, wish him all the best for his life and work in a new place. atllitinehaiiinicas: Take your place in the south line for the cafeteria if you want Mr. McManama to punch your ticket. At least, that is what Mike Calhoun--no, he's holding on to his money!--and Bob Haywood are doing. aay Far Right: Is Mr. Carroll just showing Miss Compton how to handle a dumbbell, or is he talking about some of the new equipment in the gym--this year, that is? If so, how does he get such an admiring audience? There must be some reason behind it all. Lined up to start that quick cafeteria service: Mrs. Aus- tin; Mrs. Warner; Mrs. Thomas; Mrs. Striggle; and our efficient manager, Mrs. Earnhart. It looks like ham- burger, fruit, rice and a cookie. Or for cof- fee? Or what is it they do down there? Mr. McVay and Mr. Roberts must have a hard time sched- uling all those FFA field trips, tractor pulls, contests and other activities that keep so many members occu- pied--out of class, that is. Although Mrs. Hess is usually busy in Upper A Wing, she did find time to get down to D Wing to help her brother, Mr. Howard, a student teacher in the agriculture department, use the overhead projector. 10 Above: Students trouble shooting for Mr. Wood. Then have them show you the other recently acquired equipment in this department. Or, if you like wildlife, play with Mr. Forsberg's white mice, as Laura Feerster seems to enjoy doing. He has other pets too, at school and at home--like snakes. It's possible to catch Mrs. Blanchard when she has no duties in Upper A if you know where to look. Sneak down to D Wing at the right time; you'll find her. We caught Miss Thompson in her seventh period Personal Typing class. Haven't they all learned the keyboard by this time, Miss T? Oh, it's harder to do by the time seventh period rolls around. They're tired! He was a friend to all and will remain in the memories of many. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. We've created sets, costumes, make-up, and interest among the students for the theater arts. Our plays have become more polished and more enjoyable to the audience because of Miss Carlton's efforts as a director. We haven't been able to do as much as we would have liked to do this year in pro- ductions, but we have built up the department so perhaps that will be less work for the future Thespian members. Almost every member has given time and effort to the Thes- pians, and they all deserve great credit for contributing so freely. What can | answer if someone asks a question about it? We didn't have a great season. Our record has very few victories, and 1973-74 was our first year for a varsity team. Now that sounds pessimistic, but it is all true. Our men at the grid, however, are strong, smart, and hard working. They tried very bravely to bring victory to Whitko. We wish our football team the best of luck. What they didn't win this year, they will make up in the years to come.
