1972 Sports Banquet Honors Athletes Sponsored by the Whiting Uptown Coaches, the 1972 sports banquet was held on April 13th, at Vogel’s Restau- rant. More than 5(X) loyal fans and friends attended this special event. Awards were given to those boys who excelled or showed an exceptional mental attitude in a certain sport. The Roy E. Green Award was also given to the Junior athlete who maintained the highest scholastic average throughout his three years of schooling. The concluding feature was a speech on the impor- tance of being a devoted athlete by Abe Gibron, football coach of the Chicago Bears. Abe Gibron, coach of the Chicago Bears, speaks to the guests on what he feels makes an ideal athlete. One of the best parts of the sports banquet is the food as shown by G. Hamadej and D. Johnson.
