“GO BIG GREEN is cry of Coach Kozacik as she lectures the “team at the assembly. SPIRITED BOOSTERS. CHEERLEADERS, seniors, and band members make up this prize-winning float. Preparations, teamwork, fun . . . The high point of Whiting High’s homecoming 1966 came when John Bajzatt, Student Council treasurer, crowned Miss Linda Galambos, Whiting’s Homecoming Queen of the 1966 football season. This was done during the half-time festivities. The events leading up to this started five days before. Monday night found the social room full of student boosters painting signs and banners for the parade. The City Barn was humming with much activity as the senior girls put together their prize-winning float. Farris’ Garage was the scene of the decoration of the first prize winning car, the junior class officers' car. WHS students all dressed in black as Morton Mourning 10
