NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society is not a social organization as are the majority of the clubs at Whiting, but it is a scholastic organization founded in 1922. Dances and the annual initiation are the only activities sponsored by the society. There are two elections held each year at the beginning of the first semester and the end of the second semester. The nominations for the elections are based on scholarship. The actual elections are based on four qualifications—character, scholarship, leadership, and service. 22

GIRLS' CLUB The purpose of the Girls' Club of W.H.S. is to further friendliness among the girls and to furnish in- struction on topics of interest to high school girls. The Girls' Club was founded in 1939 and has proved helpful to many girls since then.
