These energetic freshios. undor tho guid- ance of Mr. Paul D. Carver, elected as their officers. Sherman Ballard, prosidont; Wilma Smolser. vice-president; and John Ceraiewski. secre- tary-treasurer. As evidence of the popualrity of this now-famous class, in tho spring a full and over-flow- ing house of spectators turned out for the class play. The Emperor's New Clothos. Tho ono social event of this year occurred on May 11. 1935, when every- one put on his most dignifiod airs to attend the for- mal froshmar. party. We can report that as this year ended we considered ourselves to bo sufficiently ac- quainted with high school life to enter our second year with our heads up. This second year • we were put under tho care of Miss Josephine Shoa. who was to guide us through the remaining three years of our high school life. Tho officers elected wore George Macko, president; Dorothy Bradac. vice-president: Jerome McTague. sec- retary: and William St. Clair, treasurer. Our only function this year was tho presentation of the class play. The Whippersnapper on April 14. 1936, since we were almost wholeheartedly interested in our studies, eager to impress the somewhat dubious up- perclassmen with our scholastic achievements. Now we come to the junior year when we begin to foel a strange superiority, and shyness only in the presence of seniors. This year tho class was led by William St. Clair as president, assisted by Jerome McTague, vice-president; Dorothy Bradac, socrotary; and Mary Snapp, treasurer. We had begun to show only a passivo intorost in our studios, and much time was spent in planning our social activities. Time passed and our play, Shirt Sleeves was given April 9, 1937. Then, at last, came the long awaitod prom. Wo had scrimped and saved all year long to make this one event a success, and on May 24, 1937, in a Mexican environment we put it over. Last, but not loasl, wo come to our senior year of high school. This year our officers were Jorome McTague. president, George Macko. vice-president, Lois Locke, secretary, and Lenore Brindley, treasurer. Tho celebrated senior play was presented January 18. 1938. Tho sonior dance was hold on Fobruary 12. and then followed the unforgettable prom. Bum's Day, Class Night, and Commoncomont. Now that the time has really come to bid farewell to our schoolmates and teachers, we realize how much their friendship and encouragement have meant to us. Wo hold many pleasant momorios which we will always treasure. We can never forgot the assur- ance and help our advisor and friend. Miss Shea, has given us from the time we were put undor h r charge, a very willing, yet inexperienced, class, to the pres- ent time when we fool oursolvos to be a definite success. So we take our leave of Whiting High School, with a clear view towards the future, but with a vivid remembrance of extremely happy high school days.
