STUDE T COUNCIL LEFT TO RIGHT: S. Rounce, B. Brereton, D. Nemec. H. Giese, Mr. Keefe, C. Engler, R. Sale, C. Leschen, J. Freiheit, P. Ferer. This year the Student Council was ably led by Curt Engler, president, assisted by Cathy Leschen, secretary- treasurer. Other members of the council were Randa Sale, seniorg Henry Giese, junior, Jack Freiheit, sophomore, Dorothy Nemec, freshman, Brian Brereton and Patty Ferer, eighth gradeg and Shelley Rounce, seventh grade. Mr. Keefe served as adviser for his third consecutive year. The council was responsible for such programs as the Get -Acquainted Day for the new students and the assignment of parking spaces for students, the sale of book covers, pencils, briefolios, and the publication of the Buzz Book. In addition, Curt Engler performed as Master of Ceremonies for the Christmas program. It was a most active and rewarding year for the Student Council. 52

The Social Council is in its second year of operation at Whitfield. The Council's six members are Charles Van Dyke, representing the seventh gradeg Philip Cady, the eighth, Mike Kratz, the ninthg Bob Garrett, the tenthg and Connie Green, the eleventh. Claudia Forman, representing the twelfth grade, was elected president. The main objectives of the organization are to create more social affairs and to stimulate more school spirit. The council's main social event of the year was the Junior-Senior prom, held at Bath 81 Tennis Country Club. The proceeds from parties and a large donation from the Mothers' Council increased the funds for the prom. The funds obtained by parking cars for the National Open Golf Tournament at Bellerive Country Club also added to the prom finances. , 53
