Nestled in among the tree tops Almost hid from view, Rests she there in peaceful shelter, Seeming, Oh! so true. Far from ancient seats of learning, Where the sages dwell, Rose she proudly from the prairies, Wisdom's ways to tell. H. S. finished a successful season on the basket-ball court. The first games were played in rather slow fashion, but as the season advanced the court warriors dev.eloped into a fast passing, hard driving, and accurate shooting aggregation. The new court with its better facilities for developing team work has been largely responsible for the success of the team. The stellar performance of Captain Long and Ball on defense broke down the enemies attack again and again, while the work of Perriman, Paulson and Gill on the forward end of the floor was equally valuable. The Lambert brothers and Waterfall were al- ways dependable substitutes. With all of these men back for next year prospects for the coming year are bright. 1 In the district tournament at El Dorado Whitewater took third place by defeating Potwin 26-9, but lost to the champions by the close score of 19-24. Perriman took all county center in B class. EIGHTEEN THE ORANGE AND BROWN -u Gibson, Golden, Claypool, Redinger, Hash Hulsey, Neiman Ccaptainj, Reynolds, Nellons Girlz' '-Zgazket Mall Gram , GIRLS BASKET BALL TEAM Athletics for girls in W. H. S. is limited thus far to Basket Ball. This sport has always been liberally encouraged and with the building of the new gymnasium, it is but natural to expect in the future, a higher standard and better playing of this sport. At the beginning of the Basket Ball season, the new gymnasium was not com- pleted. Even tho the girls were late in starting and with but two letter men on the team, they made a brilliant showing and carried away the honors of every game, ex- cept two on the home court. Neiman and Nellons as guards played fast ball in every contest and did much to hinder the opponents success. Hulsey played center regularly and played a heady game. Hash and Reynolds as forwards played fast ball and many were the goals to their honor. Redinger as second center was certainly there when a quick return of the ball was needed, or when breaking up the opponents play was necessary. Gibson, Golden and Cla ool were utility layers and in another year will, in all probability, YP P run a close race for first place on the team. Yea, Team! Yea, Team! Fight! Fight! Fight!
