A democratic society would fail without a good school system to train its citizens to live in that society. Graduating from high school indicates that one has spent several years preparing himself for the life that is ahead of him. I urge each member of this class continue his education and to take advantage of the opportunities that are available in the Amer- ican free society. P. A. Piddington Superintendent of Schools sl TO THE CLASS OF 1959 It has been a pleasure working with you the past four years. I feel that through our associa- tions we have come to know each other better. It has been inspiring to watch you as you passed through the various stages of growing up . I know you will agree with me that you are a much different per- son now than when you entered high school. Now the future lies ahead and I am sure that you are ready to meet the challenge it has to offer. I will be following your many endeavors with interest. On behalf of the teaching staff and myself I want to wish you a happy and bright future and may all of your undertakings be successful. G . S i Even though Coach Crummey fielded a cham- pionship contender that was victorious in all but two of its nine games in 1958, the season may be classed as a rebuilding year. The team won two non-conference games to begin the season, then were victorious in two league contests before bowing to Mukwonago in the Whippets' Home- coming. After their first loss, the team came home from Burlington with a win, and the follow- ing week hit the high point of their schedule win a win over Elkhorn at Elkhorn. The Crummey- men split even in their final two games of the year, losing to champion Delavan and winning from Badger of Lake Geneva. Arlyn Paynter was captain of this fine team. The Whippets finished third in the Southern Lakes Conference. V 5 ti s., . , :5. ,,.. -. a' F . . -'TW iziisiu m zfziib .f -If.,.Xwsffvs.v,-sfwyf.
