THE CLASS OF 1982 PRESENTS TIME SLIPS AWAY LIFE IS A JOURNEY, A NEW STEP EACH DAY. TREASURE EACH MOMENT, FOR TIME SLIPS AWAY. LET THE WIND BLOW YOUR HAIR AND THE SUN BLUSH YOUR SKIN; LET THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU BE TOUCHED FROM WITHIN. ENJOY ALL THE COLORS, THE FRAGRANCES, THE SOUNDS; FILL UP YOUR HEART WITH THE JOY THAT SURROUNDS. THE BLESSINGS OF LIFE WE MUST CHERISH EACH DAY, AND TREASURE EACH MOMENT, FOR TIME SLIPS AWAY. 1982 WYCENIAN WHITESVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL WHITESVILLE, NEW YORK DEDICATION We, the stars of 1982”, would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Douglas VanSkiver. We all understand, speak and write English quite well now because you were such a great ju- nior high English teacher. You made your points clear and helped us carry them out when we had difficulty. Coaching is a job which is seldom adequately recognized or appreciated, especially at the ju- nior varsity level. We know that the short pay you receive is not the only reward you get for your efforts. Those of us who have played soccer or basketball for you appreciate the patience you have shown, the team cooperation you have encouraged and the winning tradition you have maintained. We ve always counted on your sense of humor to help make days seem a little shorter when things were going wrong. Many things we thought were difficult were made easier by your friendly personality and your funny laugh. We remember fondly all the times you and Coach were so actively involved in the backgammon marathons. As we look back, we remember all the good times we've had together. We will always remem- ber you as our favorite Muckworm”. Thanks for everything. Skivel 2 The Class of 1982 would like to express our appre- ciation to Miss Louise Rogers. We truly appreciate your dedication and the time you have given to help out our class. You were always there to drag us along when our faith was wearing thin and got us back on our feet again. If we needed you and you really didn’t have a minute to spare, you either stopped or stretched the time so you could work out our problems or smooth out our worries. You have always been there helping, guiding, consoling and doing”. One more thanks before we go and it’s for the time you took to push us to where we stand solidly today. The memory of your love and kindness, gen- erosity and friendship will stay in our minds for- ever. APPRECIATIONS We the Senior Class of 1982 would like to extend our gratitude to Miss Linda Sauerbier. You have always had a kind word and piece of advice for us when we are feeling down. If we ever had any problems, you made us feel free to come and talk to you about them. We enjoyed your open discussions in health classi you had a way of making health one of our favorite and most enjoyable classes. Although you are a relatively new person in our school, you have become a true and loyal supporter of our activities. Whenever we look into the crowds at an event, sporting or otherwise, you are usually in the audience, attentive and supportive. Thank you for being there and for being a friend. 3 OUR MASTERPIECE All our yesterdays held tomorrows; We always had time to play. How we spent them Was left for only us to decide and say. With kindergarten a misty remembrance in our minds, Oh, how much bigger we felt when we reached junior high! With each and every yesterday We carved at our statue of tomorrow. Each time we struck our chisel We took the chance of creating happiness or sorrow. Now after these years of working endlessly Toward our masterpiece, We can stand back and look upon Our somewhat amazing feats. Michele Norton 6 JANINE M. GREENE MARY G. BLAMIRE VALORIE K. PIES DAVID G. O'BRIEN 8 SCOTT M. GARIS JOHN F. COONEY GLENN R. BRUBAKER DONALD L. VAN ETTEN DENNIS R. CONNOLLY JULIE A. KEENER 12 13 CONNIE S. CLARK 14 MARY M. MC CAFFREY Although we have not been fortunate enough to know Mr. Hogle for a long period of time, he has been a source of inspi- ration to us this year. To sum up our feelings we offer one of his favorite quotes: Success is if you have lived well, laughed often and loved much) If you have gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; If you can leave the world better than you found it; If you never lacked appreciation of the Earth’s beauty or never failed to express it; And if you can look for the best in others and you give the best you have. That I think is success.” Ken Venturi Thank you, Mr. Hogle, for your friendship, your respect and your faith in us. You, we think, are a success. We had 26 returning members and 16 new members who all worked hard, not only playing and practicing, but also fund raising. Our students could be found in- volved in activities that ranged from bake sales and car washes to family portrait and poster sales. The money raised was used to finance an end-of-the-year trip to Darien Lake to celebrate their achievements and to buy new marching band equipment. We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the parents and community for not only supporting our fund raisers, but also for sharing in and enjoying our yearly concerts. Without this sup- port this year would not have been possible. We are looking forward to our community’s continued support and many more successful and educational years together.
