We bring to you a close look at “Our Place.” This is where your children grow academically, socially and physically to become leaders in their generation. A place to work and to achieve the goals of a lifetime. A place to meet with fellow students to form everlasting friendships. A place to go for assistance in time of struggle and strife. A place to receive strength and responsibility for use in tomorrow’s world. A place to prepare for our place in the future. 3 Thanks to CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK TRUST-WHITESVILLE OFFICE CARL WEIHONEIG Carl served on the school board from 1961-1963 inclusive. On January 1,1964, he became our school bus mechanic and school bus driver. He served in this capacity until ill health forced him to retire in January, 1969. He passed away September 11,1969. IN MEMORIAM MARLENE NESBIT JEFFREY REAR Marlene started out with our group in kindergarten but passed away on her birthday, October 23, 1963. We were in 6th grade and Mrs. Gladys Swarthout was our teacher. Jeffrey was our classmate only in kindergarten. Fate stepped in and he was taken in the spring of that school year. Thanks to SHAYS RED WHITE ■ CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. DORIS PFEIFFER ON HER RETIREMENT Some people need memorials to remind us of a deed Others write biographies that we can buy and read- But when Mrs. Pfeiffer left us We needed no placque for looks To remind us of her teaching And her respect for books. We'll remember her serenity Her charm and modest ways Her constant goal-perfection! A trademark of her days. As a dedicated teacher In Latin or Shorthand 1 In History or the Library She’s been great in every one! We, the Class of 1970, thank her for the hours, All the extra time—she spent On Yearbook publications- On books she bought or lent On ESEA orders. On a report or learning tool We thank her and wish her well on retirement From Whitesville Central School. Thanks to BABBITT POLE CONSTRUCTION AND LIME SPREADING We, the class of 1970, choose to dedicate this edition of the Wycenian to Mrs. Keefe and Mrs. Green for their assistance in our transition from the grades to “our place” in the Senior High. Mrs. Keefe has taught 34 years of which 23 were spent here. Mrs. Green has been at Whitesville Central for 15 years. We will always respect Mrs. Keefe’s high spirit and firmness and Mrs. Green’s soft spoken ways and gentle mannerisms. In our 1969 baseball campaign with Coach Kotmel, we had a fairly successful season which placed us in third place in the Class D league. We had a very young ball club, but managed to win a playoff berth in Section V. Unfortunately we lost our first game to a much stronger Jasper club at Greenwood. This season we have several returning lettermen and we expect to have a good team with the addition of some upcoming freshmen.
