THIKD GRADE The nineteen boys and fifteen girls in our room this year studied two new subjects, Social Studies and Science. In our Social Studies we learned about workers at home and away. We especially enjoyed the experiments in Science. We learned about magnets, electricity, the earth we live on, and the sky above us. We made telescopes and some of the star constellations. Our entertainment program this year consisted of the following: a lovely Christmas tree which we all decorated, an exchange of presents and many treats. In February we gave our assembly program which consisted of three short plays. As a part of our science program we collected specimens of wild flowers which we pressed, mounted, and identified. We also had a unit on the sky at night and learned to locate some of the constellations. Facts about the planets and the moon became part of this study. Social Studies found us becoming acquainted with different homelands around the world. We learned about the Iroquois Indians and complied booklets about them. Other regions which were fascinating to us were: Eskimo land, the Sahara and Egypt, Switzerland, and Holland. Several holiday parties were enjoyed by our group this year, some of these were: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. We presented an assembly program in October featuring a film on Yellowstone National Park. 21,

Perfect attendance for the first semester were as follows: Ronald Hall, Buddy Hazzard, Eddy Joe Matteson, and Sharon Sherwood. Our assembly program came in the spring.
