SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Driving back to Whitosville for our class reunion, many pleasant memories came to me of my school days at Whiteavllle Cen- tral School. It was a bewildered and dubious group of thirty-two members that walked into the first grade room in September 191+5 end met our teacher Mrs. Coats. Jane Birmingham, Janetta Baham, Elwin Stebbins, Gary Pfeiffer, Joan Chambers, Donna Stebbins, Bruce Ellsworth, George Gath, Dennis Grantier, and Milford Cline were a part of this original group. Those years seemed far away and remote. Yet, how well I re- membered having Mrs. Scribner for second grade, Mrs. Fitzpatrick as our third grade teacher, Mrs. Hurlburt in fourth grade, Mrs. Clark for our fifth grade and Mrs. Barney for sixth grade. We had a variety of schools, you might say. Second grade was the building that Is now Waite’s garage and third grade was spent in a little green house between McCullough’s garage and the old school building. Our other three grades, as well as two years of Junior High, were in the old school building. Sixth grade was in the new elementary school. A parade of faces went through ray mind as I recalled those past years. Gary Dibble Joined us in second grade and Edward Heselton, Gordon Dodge (who left last year), Carolyn Scoville and Sally Kruaen became 4 part of our group in third grade. Sally stayed until our Senior year when she moved to Florida. In fifth grade Nellie Saunders became one of us and Gene Davis and Kathryn Lewis Joined us in seventh grade. Surviving eighth grade regents, we became high aohool stud- ents. What memories those years held for mol Gene Davis served as our President for all four years, with Gary Pfeiffer acting as Vice President for our Junior and Senior years. Others who ser- ved as class officers were: Janetta Baham-Vlce President our Freshman year. Sec'y.-Treas.Sophomore and Junior years, Sec’y. Senior year, Nellie Saunders-Treas. Freshman year, Jane Birming- ham-Treas. Senior year, Sally Krusen-Vice President Sophomore year. Our advisors varied also. As Freshman we had Mr. Ruhl and Mrs. Cornell, and when we became Sophomores Mrs. Matt Ison helped us with our ring selection. Mr. Cretekos and Mr. Maynard helped us our Junior year and as Seniors Mr. Riley and Mr. Cretekos ad- vised us. The highlights of our high school years are many. We held a Box Social and a candy sale our Freshman year to make money while we had a skating and a movie party for entertainment. In our Sophomore year we held two dances and had a class party. As Jun- iors we were really busy. We revived the school paper, held two dances and our Junior Prom. We also entered a magazine campaign and presented a one-act play, The Trysting Place . Our last year in high school held the most memories of all. We were the first Seniors In the new building. We sponsored a public skating party, held two dances, presented Take Your Med- icine as our play, published the Wycenian , planned our Senior trip and had the Junior-Senior Banquet. Yes, those good old days will always hold a special place in my heart. As I Journeyed onward, I knew ray old classmates would agree with the refrain which I was humming: No friends like old friends, go where we may; No friends like old friends with us to stay; God bless the friends who are Jolly and new But keep safe forever the old and the true.
