“SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We entered first grade in September 19l|4 Mrs. Coats was our teacher and classes were held in a little green house beside the high school. We remember many humorous incidents from that grade, but most of all, we recall the cloak room and paddle. In the second grade, we attended classes in the building now used as a garage. Mrs. Scribner was our teacher. We left Howard Smeal, Gordon Graves and David Slack behind, and Winifred Saunders, Le Roy Billings and Leslie Allen joined us. We remember the long walks to the cafeteria which was located over the brick garage. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was our instructor in third grade. We moved to the other side of the garage. Shirley Smith and Paul Cady left us and Laughton Carpenter, James Chambers, Rex Nye, John Allen, Rodney Horton joined our class. In fourth grade Mrs. Hurlbert was our teacher. Norman Dodge, Vincent Flynn, and Beverly Williamson joined our group at this time. We were still attending school up on the corner. We were really grown up in fifth grade, at least we thought we were because we were moved to the main building. Mrs. Clark was our teacher. Robert Spicer, Robert Stives, Sally Hart, George ? farion, Dolores McLean, Leon Ordway and Leo Saunders en- rolled in our class. Our manners were not much improved when Mrs. Barney took over in sixth grade. We were joined by Richard Sherwood, James Lewis, Robert Ritter, and Florence Smith. Robert Ritter left us that same year along with James Chambers. In seventh grade Mrs. Cornell was our homeroom teacher. Our room also doubled for an art room so our classes were somewhat disrupted. Arlene Lewis joined us and Beverly Willaimson left. Florence Ordway and Lynne Kear cheered on the Junior Varsity squad this year. Our boys joined the Junior high basketball squad this year. We moved upstairs in eighth grade. Miss Malone was our homeroom teacher. Florence became a Varsity cheerleader this season and for the next three years. Raymond Baker joined us for a few weeks and then moved back to Florida. Robert Spicer and Robert Stives also moved. In our Freshman year Nancy Tarr joined us while Rodney Horton and Dick Sherwood left us. Lynne Kear left us in Sep- tember and spent the next seven months in hospitals as a result of an accident. Mr. Cross w as our Sophomore advisor. Arlene Lewis left us to get married and Lynne rejoined our group. Among our activ- ities was our Sophomore Hop which was a success. Joan and Florence cheered Varsity this year. The Class of 56 chose Mr. Cross and Mrs. Fuller to be our class advisors during our Junior Year. David Canfield joined us and Phyllis Rhodes left us. Our Junior Prom and other dances were successful. We also assisted the Seniors with their year book and Hallowe’en Fair. Our Senior Year has been a very busy one. Barbara Stebbins and Dolores McLean both left school to get married. Mr. Riley and Mr. Cross were our advisors and very good ones too. The class is now looking forward to the Washington Trip and Graduation.
