CLASS HISTORY In the fall of '43, wc, the Senior Class of '47, entered lhiteeburg High School as freslmen. we found this to be a new and thrilling experience as we began to take up our duties as students. le were only a typical freshuan class so we made many mistakes. We started our sophomore year by electing llrs. Newman as our sponsor. This year we took more interest in sports and in other school activities. The highlight of our sophomore year was our play,Hillbilly Courtship, coached by lisa Louise Moore. This was a great success. As juniors we began to assume some of the responsibilities due us. Under the direction of our sponsor, lllss Chase, our play, Kama Bad A Bunch, was a real hit. Another important event ln our junior year was our trip to The Great Smolq lountalns. At last, our senior year has arrlved,and we realize that this should be our best year.le are looking forward to our playg we have selected s favorite of our class, Here Comes Charlie, we are happily anticipating other special senior activities, especially commencement night. - lo are grateful,indeod,for the many services which our beloved sponsor,l1se Kilgore, has rendered us. l0lll0I'19l of our school days at Whltesburg High School will never leave us lo regret that some of our classmates have left us since we started in school as freslmon, but we are proud to have had their comradship during our school I le d y lerle Ballard CLASS WILL le, the Senior Class of lhitesburg High School being of sound mind and 'memory,and considering the uncertainty of this frall and transitory llfe do therefore,construct, ordain, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament. Wanda Bonney leaves her keen sense of humor to Helen Carpenter. lade Goin leaves his knowledge of chemistry to Ben Davis. Verl Holton leaves hor friendliness to lvelyn Howlngton. Kathryn lcCravy leaves her basketball talents to Imogene Horner. Alice Belton leaves her perfect attendance record to Betty .To Horner. Jeno Shipley leaves his untlring efforts to John Ralph Rogers. Twelve years of work and fun we've had to reach this senior year And now we're so excited 'cause graduation's near. le have regret of parting, but we're glad the time will come lhen we can all look back and say, 'I'm proud it was well done le have the lhetsel sisters, Ruby Jean and Nelleg Three lovely blonde have we - Evelyn, Lorena, and Anna Bell. The friendship of everyone they all wish to gain. Look for their names ln prlntl It won't be in vain! Another favorite ls Harleyg on this we're all agreedu Teachers, parents, and friends, I really cannot say How very much we appreciate your kindness along the way. So I'll just say, Thanks.'and hope you won't mind Rasa ing my real thoughts between the lines. I must not fall to mention that very sad day E when Billy Estes and Joe Helton said they could not stay. Their spirits still linger in class room and hall: Early this year they answered the A. A. F. call. Cooperation has been our greatest asset As shown in our plays, they've been the best yet - 'Hillbilly Courtshlpn and Hama nas A Hunan? The public said every line had a Punch. No more together our paths we will tread, As each strives to reach hls goal ahead. Forever in memory will be these sweet old days, As our dreams lead us onward in different ways.
