Miss llcrry man has olfered a helping hand not only to our class but to many' others who preceded us. During her thirty' years at Whitesboro, she has taught linglish. lfor live years, she served as guidance counselor. The members of the classes of 1948 through 1955 had Miss llerryman for their senior advisor. XVc, on the yearbook stall, are especially' grate- ful to Miss llerryman because it was she who was one of the lirst assistant heads of Che-ga-quat-ka in 1937. 'l'hrough her elforts, the idea was born to have each Senior class at Whitesboro publish a vearbookg and, in 1948 and 1949 she was the yearbook advisor. Miss Berryman was the lirst faculty advisor of the Main Street lfcho in 1929. 'llhis publication later became known as the 1Yisp. The Student Council was founded in 1947, mainly through Miss l1erry'man's efforts, and she was also their lirst advisor. Miss Berryman has done much more than just teach a subject. When we weren't doing as well as we might, she encouraged us to do better. She had a forgiving heart when we committed a wrong. lf we needed any help, all we had to do was ask Miss Berryman and she did all that she possibly' could do for us. The many hours she spent in preparation for classes and correcting papers was often taken for grantedg but, as we grow older, we will appreciate her efforts more and more. Also, we will always remember her intense dislike of ball point pens and spear- mint gum. We, seniors, feel humble and grateful for all that Miss Berryman has done for us. To show our appreciation, we are dedicating our yearbook to her. wiiav TABLE OF CONTENTS I EI .1 ff . S f s . SHAKESPEARE SENIOR OFFICERS-Front Row: Harriet Whaling, Secretary: Michael Massaroffi, Vice-President. Back Row: Robert Madden, Treasurery David Abraham, President, CLASS HISTORY DICAR XV.C.S.: 'l'his is just a short memoir before we, the class of' 1956, leave your halls and start in our various directions down the road of' life. Remember the day our trembling fingers pulled open your huge doors for the first time? lfntering wide-eyed into one of the largest corridors we had ever seen, we thought that we would surely get lost in this immense building which was to become our second home. NVe will never forget September, 1952, for most of us had entered our wonderful teens , and not even the status of lowly greenies could afl'ect us. We cast ballots for Dave Abraham to be our President, Peg llumphrey, Vice-Presidentg Diane Carguilo, Secretaryg and ,loan Guido, Treasurer. We had a terrific year, with our Christ- mas party and our class picnic at Cayuga l.ake. Oh yes, we can't forget our first big dance, the lirosh Iirolic. lt was the best one ever. By the time we had advanced to the second rung of the high school, we decided to have the following people lead our class: Dave Abraham, Presidentg Mike Massarotti, Vice-President, Anne Fleming, Secretary: and Mary Hankinson, Treas- urer. We completed our sophomore year with our Soph llop and a class picnic at Green Lake. As juniors, we chose Dave Abraham, once again, to be our Presidentg Chuck Thompson, Vice-Presidentg Peg llumphrey, Secretary, and Bob Madden, Treasurer. Finally we were the class - your seniors. With graduation so close, the first thing we did was to elect Dave Abraham, President, Mike Massarotti, Vice-President, llarriett XVhaling, Secretary, and Bob Madden, handler of our precious funds. Our hands still had many tasks to complete by june -they sold Christmas cards, magazines, sponsored two senior dances, and sold coke at the basketball games. These are just a few of the things we have done as a class during the past six years. We are really going to miss you. We won't ever forget all that you have taught and given us. God Bless You.
