Henry's Regents aver- age was 95.44.13 he prepared the salutatory speech. The seniors installed were: john Banas. Carol Henson, Barbara Brennan, janet Con- stantine, Wilfred Hahn, Ioanne Hastings, Henry Koslewski, Richard Hawken, Ross Mo- tjuin, Shirley Pfl11ke, Gertrude Pierce. Therese SPECIAL AWARDS Accepted by tl1e Navy Department for en- rollment i11 the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, Xvilfred Hahn has been awarded a full scholarship to cover all his expenses i11 college. I11 1948, Wilfred YVOII the Harvard Award, which is given to the outstanding junior boy. .loane Hastings has VVOII a Zonta Club scholarship for nursing. Covering a three-year period, the scholarship hnances the winner during her trai11i11g. fly vote, the senior class chose its four o11t- standing citizens. These four-Joanne Hastings, Helen Stahl, Wilfred Hahn, Zlllll Thomas Mul- len - represented WCS at the Citizenship Edu- cation Convention held at Syracuse University o11 April ao. A hnalist in the scholarship co111- petition, Helen lJCf'2llIlC an alternate fora Syra- cuse University scholarship. During the SIIIDIDCI' of 19.18, XfVilf'red Hahn Elllfl Henry Koszewski attended E111pire Boys' State at Colgate University. While there, the boys had valuable trai11i11g i11 citiienship Zlllll leadership. Helen Stahl was selected to attend the Her- ald Tribune FUl'lllII for youth i11 New York City Oll March 5, 1949. l11 addition, she repre- sented Whitesboro i11 the llllllllill DAR COIIIIIC- titio11, flllll she has been awarded tl1e Bausch E301 Quinn, Douglas Scholl, Helen Stahl a11d Shir- ley Stohrer. Included fl'0Ill tl1e junior class were: -Ioan Bathrick, jean Prauder, jerold Kowalsky, Ioanne Mursch, Sheila Sewell a11d Francis TtllJlll. I11 addition, Mrs. Helen Potter, who had been lllSlI'lll1lCl1l2ll in founding tl1e chapter, became an honorary 111e1nber. Ill electing officers, the IllCI1llJCI'S chose: Richard Hawken, president: Carol Benson, vice-president: Barbara Brennan, secretary, Zlllll Ross Moquin, treasurer. AND HONORS and Lo111h Honorary Science Award. I11 19.48, Hele11 wo11 the Elllllfil College Key, which is g'lVCl1 to the outstanding junior girl: that year she also received tl1e French Medal of Honor. I11 19.16, she wrote an essay which took seco11d prize i11 tl1e Oneida County junior Health As- sociation Contest. Ten se11ior boys-two groups of hve each-he- came .junior Rotarians. As guests of the Rotary Club of Utica, they were given Zlll opportunity to meet a11d talk with 111en i11 various occupa- tio11s ol' interest to young 111e11. The hrst quin- tet consisted of: X'Villiam jf. Greene, Richard Hawken, Francis Riley, Douglas Scholl and Howard Weeks: the second, of john Banas, Wilfred Hahn, 'Tll0lll2lS Mullen, Richard Nei- metl Zlllll Edward Szczesny. For three years john Banas has wo11 the Fu- t11re Farmers of Anierica speaking contest. Twice he proceeded through the sectionals to clinch the county title: this year, he again took sectional l1o11ors, although no county co111peti- tion was held. In 1947, john received the Amer- lfllll Agriculture Award. In the 1948 National Connnercial Contest, -lane Trlepacl attained the rank of fifth in the e11tire United States. jane also received a Cer- tificate of Proficiency, and a like award was won by Marion Greczkowski.
