As we look back over our four years of high school, we come first to the fall of '39 when we entered these doors as fright- ened and excited freshmen. We were in high school now- so after not too many weeks had passed we elected Edward Pugh as our president, Calvin Teachout vice-president, Nor- bert Kula secretary and Harry Diamond treasurer. To help our funds along, we sponsored a Rollerdrome skating party. Then as a climax to a full year of fun and study we all had a good time at our Pine Lake picnic. 1 1 1 IN the fall of 1941 we re-entered school as sophomores. Early in the semester we held our class elections, choosing the fol- lowing officers: President, Janice Holdridge, vice-president, Edward Pugh, secretary, jean Kirk, and treasurer, Merton Harrington. Our first social event of the year was a roller skat- ing party held in the Utica Rollerdrome. Towards the end of the year we held a sophomore sport dance, Roger Newman's orchestra played. Y 1 1 AFTER a carefree summer of fun and relaxation, we entered our third year of high school in September, 1942. We were in the midst of a war, which had taken many of our class- mates, as well as some of our teachers into the service. To start the year off successfully we elected as class ofiicers: Tom Murphy, president, june Spink, vice-president, Harry Dia- mond Cnow in U. S. Navyj, secretary, and Don Caryl, treas- urer. Here's another pretty blonde Of her we are all quite fond financial journey through our junior year. In spite of the fact that the war had curtailed many of our activities, we obtained our junior rings, even though they were late in arriving. To give students of Whitesboro a good time and to raise more money for an expensive year, we held a junior dance. As a climax to a full year of study and play, we held on Friday, May 19, 1943, the Junior Prom. joyce Fraats and Dave Cary were elected co-chairmen. Our Prom was a big success with a park scene as theme and Andy Jason's orchestra. We ended our junior year looking forward to our last year of high school with mixed emotions of regret and joy. 1 1 1 WE entered our final year of high school with eager anticipa- tion. In our class elections in November, Donald Edgar was elected president, Harriet Emery, vice-president, june Beau- seigle, treasurer, and George Barlow, secretary. Our senior plays, in addition to being outstanding dramatically, also supplemented our class treasury immensely. We, of the pres- ent senior class have the distinction of being the first class to go through the new Central School building from the seventh grade. Two of these years in school have been spent while the nation has been at war. During the period, many boys from our class have volunteered or have been drafted into the armed forces, others have taken their examinations prepara- tory to being drafted. It may be our class will be minus several of our boys before the end of this senior year. Such is war! However, the entire senior class is looking forward to a suc- cessful completion of their high school careers.
