Listen to others, then think for yourself. David Yount QMIIJ ol. lt is all right to give out but dOn'I give up. One of the first things we did was to have a class meeting and to elect as our officers: Thomas Sims, president, Atlee Brown, vice president, Sherrill Dallas, secretary, and Eddie Bostic, trea- surer. Janice Langford, Tribble Douglass, and Cornelia Riser represented our class at the State Mental Exams. We then chose Sylvia Hunnicutt, Judy Lindler, C. L. Johnson, and June Raines as May Court Attendants. During our freshmen year many of us who were interested in music became members of the band and Glee Club. With so many new and interesting activities to command our at- tention the days slipped quickly by and before we knew it we were sophomores. By this time we had begun to realize that there was more to high school than fun and frolic. We spent much of our time learn- ing the important dates and places in American History, studying the structure and function of plants and animals in biology, fac- toring and solving the equations of Algebra I, and parsing and coniugating in sophomore English. At the end of the first semes- ter Joann Brazell, Sylvia Hunnicutt, Billy Rhodes, Janice Langford, Glenn Jenkins, George Maness, Cornelia Riser, and Tribble Doug- lass were initiated into the Beta Club.
