To the devoted men who made Whitehaven School what it is today- only through his loyal leadership and guidance could Whitehaven have ever attained its present outstanding position. Bill Carrington Jones, 1950 Washington and Lee University Lexington, Virginia Mr. Elliott is a true credit to the teaching profes- sion. His sincere interest in each and every one of his students will long be remembered by those of us who attended Whitehaven High School. The stern, yet gentle, leadership displayed at all times by Mr. Elliott inspired many of his former students to attain success and happiness. It is with great pleasure and deep humility that I pay this tribute to my high school principal. Clarence E. McKnight, Jr., 1947 Lieutenant, U.S.A. Yangu, Korea I would like to thank Mr. Elliott for the undeniable influence he had upon my thinking. His straight- forward and honest way made a lasting impression upon my character. He is a friend to every boy and girl that attends Whitehaven School. His moral standards, understanding of child psychology and unquestionable devotion to his work make him the best qualified man I know for the position he holds. I have one regret: our association lasted only four short years. Jim Lassetter, 1945 1st Lieutenant, U.S.A.F. Mt. Home, Idaho Class of '41 'or '54, makes no difference - Mr. Elliott is still the same all American man. Wise, honest and warm hearted, with a friendly hello, and a helping hand. Jack E. Burch, 1941 Memphis, Tennessee As the guiding genius of an outstanding school, his fine character and loving interest have encouraged students through their hardest tasks. Mr. Fred S. Elliott has a place in the hearts of all those who have known him through the years as the students' friend, Charles E. Cadwell, 1949 Memphis, Tennessee We of the staff of 1951 wish to express our deepest gratitude to a man whose educational wis- dom and integrity have established and maintained for Whitehaven a scholastic rating which few com- parable institutions can parallel. Mr. Elliott, we are proud to be -among the thou- sands of your students, and we shall always strive to uphold the honor of this school to which you have graciously dedicated your life. God bless you, sir. Scotty O'NeiI, 1951 Memphis, Tennessee By shrinking not from controversy but diligently and steadfastly standing for what he believed was right, he has inspired in all his students and associates a quality of individuality which has proved beneficial to so many. It can only be said that no greater man has ever lived than Mr. Elliott, and he will be loved, respected and remembered for many years to come by all those who were given the opportunity to reap the benefit of his most able guidance and counsel. I am most proud of the privilege of knowing Mr. Elliott. Tim Schaeffer, 1946 Memphis, Tennessee

To a man who has done more for Whitehaven than can ever be recorded, a man who unselfishly and unhesitatingly puts the interests of the school and its students above his own. He came to Whitehaven, a small country school, and built it into one of the best schools in the South. His high character and his devotion to the cause of education make him one of the great men of our time. Seldom has so much been owed by so many to one person. 3
