Sixty-four Janus was quite an appropriate choice for the task of guarding the gateway to Mount Olympus because he was able to look two ways. He symbolizes the end of one era and the beginning of another. Our graduating seniors, who look back on four busy years with nostalgia, realize that Commencement is the doorway leading from heedless years of youth into adult sobriety.
