CLASS HISTORY The graduattng class of 1956 began as freshmen tn September of 1952 Thetr offtcers were Prestdent Joann VanderBo11 Vtce President Marilyn Ktng Secretary Don Johnson and Treas urer Dtck Wotrol The Student Council representatives were Torn Koskt Ann Covell and Kaj Sorenson Throughout the year the class collected four new members Roberta Wetmore Leon Herrtng Earl Lathrop and Shirley Larson Our first btg dance was called the Htllbtlly Hop The freshman year surmounted the 56 grads went on to btgger and better thtngs The new offtcers were President J oeOConnel1 Vtce Prestdent Ka1 Sorenson Secretary Don Johnson and Treasurer Dtck Wotrol The newStudentCounc1l members were Barry Powell and Ron Grady Ann Covell Tom Koskt and Kay Sorenson were re elected as members Transfer students were Jackte Maslen and Frank Brooks No one remembers the name of the three hour dance but every one remembers the franttc work put tnto tt The class held tts party at Crystal Lake the ftrst of tts three parttes held there The Class of 56 was not to be out done tn the tradtttonal prom From the begtnntng of the year Prestdent Martlyn King Vtoe President Mark Gustafson Secretary Sharon Collins and Treasurer Cheryl Anderson planned and worked on the Prom arrangements The Student Counctl representatives for the Junior year were Tom Koskt Ron Grady Kaj Sorenson Ann Covell and of the new htgh school. New students Anne Rtsden Carol Casselman Becky Berhn and Marian Ztmmerman dtd their part tn addtng to the general hustle The sprtng dance Fool s Folly was held on Aprtl 1 and wtll long be remembered for IIS unique decorations the use of every holtday F tnally the btg ntght The J untor Senior Prom the Starltght Fantasy was held at the Masontc Temple tn Muskegon The senior year at lastl Three new students Helen Meter Btll Metkle and J tm Park entered the graduattng class The Student Council was well represented by sentors Barry Powell President Ann Covell Recordtng Secretary and Kaj Sorensen Treasurer The regular repre sentattves for the class were Cheryl Andersen Tom Koskt and J tm Marttn The class offtcers President Mark Gustafson Vtce President JoeO Connell Secretary Mar1lynK1ng and Treasurer Bobbie Wetmore arranged the freshman tntttatton and presented the assembly on the afternoon of October 8 Mock elections were held on December 14 and 15 the graduatton pictures arrived the 16th and the Christmas formal Fantasy andF rost was held on the 1'7th F trst semester exams Easter vacatton the prom Skip Day and then the ftnal exams The last semester flew by and at last we were ready to recetve the diplomas for which we had waited Four years of fun study and frtendshtp ended, and yet just begtnmng ' . : ' - ' .
