Fine blocking by the line and backfield and the spectacular running of Tacker helped complete the record of seven wins and two losses. Tacker, a senior, topped the league in scoring with 96 points. Three senior boys had the honor of being placed on the all-star team. They are Bob Tacker, Ed Tremba, and Vincent Quigg. Coach Piff will lose the following boys through graduation: Tremba, Quigg, Lucci, Bartholomew, Tacker, Golley, Fahringer, and Owens. However, next year we predict the team will fill only the victory column and the defeat column will be unnecessary. SCORES OF GAMES W.H.S. Opp. Quakertown . . 26 8 Palmerton . l6 8 Nazareth .... Varsity Basketball Season The 1950-51 basketball season at Whitehall was not a very successful one. This was due largely to the inexperience ot the players. The highlight of the season was the surprising 72-66 victory over the league-leading Palmerton Blue Bombers. The victory ended their 13+game Winning streak. Coach Steckel will lose only two players-Fahringer and Payonk-through graduation. With a year ot experience the boys ot next year's team should enjoy a more success- tul season. Nw J-V Basketball Season The Iunior-Varsity basketball team entered the 1950-51 season with a team largely composed of freshmen. There were only a few experienced boys on the squad. This accounts for the record of six victories and twenty defeats. The team was coached for the first time this season by Willie Piff. Things look brighter for next season, and we are sure they will have a highly success- ful season. Schedule and scores follow: Opp. W.H.S. Second Prize Second Prize HAPPY MOMENTS AT OUR JUNIOR PROM OF 1950 Junior Prom 1950 Each class takes part in two junior proms, one which it is the recipient of in its junior year. and another which it sponsors as the senior class. Functions such as these have become a vital part of the social calendar of all Whitehall students. As the class of 1951, we also participated in and sponsored this function, and the occasion certainly added glamour and excitement to our stay at Whitehall. The prom of 1950-at the time-was one of the biggest moments of our school year, The melodious strains of music, played by Matt Gillespie and his orchestra. filled the mag- nificent General Trexler ballroom of the Americus Hotel. Our own Louise Siegfried was chosen queen and was attended by eight of our junior girls. The queen, escorted by junior class president, John Yost, was crown- ed by Margaret Hudy, queen of 1949, and Gerald Young, senior class president. The names of the attendants and their escorts were: Elaine Kuhns William Maddox Adeline Talotta James Owen Helen Warmkessel Franklin Brown Faye MdQuilken Rachel Geiger Bernadine Palco Mary Harakel Betty Kokolus Richard Edwards Franklin Fahringer Joseph Lucci Grayden Holland Richard Seyfried Junior Prom 1951 Once again the junior prom took a promi- nent place in our lives as we sponsored it in January of 1951. This was to be the last of our high schoor career and it certainly turn- ed out to be a gala affair. It was again held at the Americus Hotel and the orchestra of Matt Gillespie again furnished the dance music. The high point of the evening was the crowning of the junior queen, Hermina Kov- alchik, by last year's queen, Louise Siegfried, and John Yost, our president. Miss Koval- chik was escorted by Richard Madouse, junior class president, and attended by seven junior boys and girls. The names of the attendants were: Dale George Francis Tracy Leroy Fritch Dean Kratzer Franklin Bair Robert Clark Ronald Scheirer Eileen Wavrek Janet Merkle Nancy Marushak Delores Hutnick Jean Deily Jeanette Kish Barbara Ludwig The dance was successful and entertaining for all who were present. There may be other proms in the future at different places, but none. in our estimation, could quite take the place of these two proms. X . Af' i ' A .,,.
