HIGH SCHOOL HOKENDAUQUA, PA. VOLUME XXVII THE IQLL6 OUR ALMA MATER The youth that from his mother's home goes forth to Whitehall high, Can ne'er be said to wildly roam, or fade in clouds well nighg So let us now the truth bestow, and here our altars raise, And our dear Alma Mater praise, our Alma Mater praise. When poverty ensnares the home, poor girls will sob and weep, Or, if their strength won't let them come, they'l1 soon in silence sleepg And, so, with love and sacritice, to her 1et's altars raise, And our dear Alma Mater praise, our Alma Mater praise. Her graduates are strong and firm, and build both hearth and home, Her sons and daughters will each term back to her altars roam, And there will bend and bow and pray, until a shrine they raise, And their dear Alma Mater praise, their Alma Mater praise. -Heilman 1Tune-Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes! Debate Club The question for debate this year was, Resolved: That every able-bodied male citizen of the United States should have one year of full-time military training before attaining the age of 24. This has been a very fascinating and intriguing question. The Debate Club has had a very busy schedule. We tangled with South Whitehall, Slatington, Hellertown, and Catasauqua in sixteen independent debates. The Debate Club can be proud of its record. The one affirmative tearn, which included Carroll Williams, Letitia Laub, and Dale Dimler, won two victories out of four debates. The other affirmative team, including Rich- ard King, Blodwyn Gyer, and Raymond Brown, also had a record of two out of tour. The first negative team, Iohn Feiler, Catherine Turbedsky, and Iohn Long, had two defeats, one victory, and a tie. The record of the second nega- tive team included two victories and two defeats. This team included Gloria Steyert, Audrey Gmver, and Richard Buss. The Tournament was held on March 22, at Catasauqua. This was a scramble debate of three rounds each. lt is the opinion of the members of the team that much of the success of the season was due to the untiring effort and encouragement of their adviser, Mrs. Beidleman.
