Miss Davis In dedicating the ,62 SHIELD to Miss Martha Shelton Davis, we do so with appreciation for her nine years of untiring efforts in promoting White Station. It also seems fitting that because she was the co-advisor of the first annual at White Station we should dedicate this, the sixth Volume of the SHIELD, to Miss Davis. An exemplary teacher, she has devoted much of her time above and beyond the call of duty. Miss Davis is likely to be found at every football game, every basketball game, every school function, for her enthusiasm and spirit in supporting White Station never fails. Miss Davis has helped to bring the Latin department citywide recognition through White Station's participation in the annual Latin Tournament, held at Memphis State University. She also sponsors the Latin Club and organizes the annual Roman Banquet. Well-liked among the faculty and students, Miss Davis is more than a teacher, she is a friend to all and a perfect example of 4'The Spirit of White Station. 4

6,5 V y 6 1 sf The Spirit of White Station was born when the doors of the school were opened for the very first time. He was just a little fellow then, but you ought to see him now! He has grown, and CROWN, and CROWN . He has had every reason to grow to such large proportions. ,lust look at all the places in which he has been able to grow. He has grown every day in the classrooms, at every pep meeting, at every athletic contest, and at every club meeting. He knows that the faculty at White Station is the best in Memphis, he knows that the students at White Station are always ready to cheer their teams on to victory, and he knows that everyone enjoys the varied school clubs. As you turn the pages of this, your 562 SHIELD, watch for the Spirit of White Station. Just as you feel his presence during the school year, you will see him throughout the annual. He is everywhere around you, and without him White Station would not be among the top schools in Memphis.
