MADOLYN WEISS Editor-in-Chief The Shield SUSAN WYATT Assistant Editor Missing pictures, missing scores, missing copy sheets, and missing editors — these were only a few of the prob- lems with which the SHIELD staff had to cope. When these difficuhies were finally overcome, Mother Nature frowned upon us with bad weather, making the situation even more iinpossible. Preparations begun as early as spring 1960, howe ver, enabled the staff to meet their deadlines — even if by mad flights to the airport piloted skillfully by Miss Bennett. Karen, Ellen, and Emily fulfilled the tedious job of checking and rechecking senior and faculty data. Are there really four ' Tom Joneses ' ? Lynn asked as she struggled with the class section. Marge. Vicki. and Gail in- geniously found novel ways to introduce clubs. Max and Linda pursued the coaches day and night to obtain the true sports stories. That a crew cut could be combed in twenty different ways amazed Janice. Mimi, and Gay. Mary Lynn and Cheryl don ' t know where to buy anything after hearing the sales pitches of all the competi- tors. The subscription money was awfully tempting to the sticky fingers of Linda. Gail, and Jeannie. Was that ham really supposed to be in all those pictures? questioned photographers. Ronnie. Jimmy, and Bill. All our work, all our enthusiasm, and all our hearts were put into the 1961 SHIELD. We only hope that you enjoy the SHIELD as much as we enjoyed publishing it.
