Senior Track The 1960 Track Team enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in White Station ' s history. Led by Captain Earl Gillespie, the Spartans finished second in the District 2 meet, gained fifth place finishes in both the Mem- phis and Ripley Relays, and won a number of city meets. Bobby Robbins set new shot-put records at the District 2 meet and the Ripley Relays. Several outstanding 880-yard runs were turned in by Frank Feagin during the season. Earl Gillespie, the team ' s high point man, was a consistent winner in the high jump and in the mile run. Earl, who gained victories in the state meet at Nash- ville, later received the Chick Kensinger Founder ' s Trophy as Memphis ' outstanding prep trackman of the year. 175
