CLOTHES, CLOTHES, All good things must come to an end. whether it's a hot romance, the World Series, or a clothing tad. This year, new wave returned, bigger than ever. White River students wore everything from oversize sweaters to three or four earrings per ear. For the more faint of heart, the varsity look, with its sweaters and stirrup pants was big. Prints and paisleys were back, bigger than ever. A really popular look was the combination of two-or more- prints. These prints ranged from floral to plaid to huge paisleys. They weren't just on shirts, either-plaid trousers were seen on many White Riverites this season. Shorts were seen until cold weather drove them back into dresser drawers. As footwear goes, Keds without laces were seen on almost everyone's feet, although Reeboks and hightop basketball shoes were also popular. For those handy with a bottle of bleach, old Levi's could be transformed into a hot new look. Besides, it was less expensive than some of the other fads. Value Village, with its inexpensive clothes, could always be counted on if you wanted something nobody else had. Otherwise, you just had to keep a sharp eye out for sales and bargains. Basically, whether you were a prep, a waver, a rocker, or somewhere in between, it was a year to create your own look.
