AND THE BAND White River's biggest band in 15 years greeted Band director Gary Cleasby In the Fall. The 65-piece band was very active in performing at concerts, football and basketball games and hosting the 1974 Seamont League Band Festival. Two members, Craig DesJardins and Ramone Talens, were selected for the League Honor Band and two others were selected to play in the Washington All-State Band held in Richland in March. The biggest single activity was launching a drive to purchase new band uniforms. The band members cut and split firewood and engaged in other activities to help raise the thousands of dollars necessary. Selected for All-State honors were Kerry Heisserman and Ed Hill for Band, and John Hurley and Cindy Straley for Choir. 3AND OFFICERS: Secretary Betty Harrigan, President Tom Sanger, Treasurer Patty Mellish, Vice President Debbie Schliesman. CHOIR SMALL BUT SELECT Thirty selected students sang this year in the White River High School Choir. Performances were scheduled throughout the year at school assemblies, Bethesda Manor in Enumclaw, The Soldiers Home in Orting, a Kewanis Banquet, and the Seamount League Choral Festival at Fife High School. The Girls' Chours, Boys' Chorus, and groups from the Middle School sang with the Choir at the Christmas and Spring Concerts. It has become tradition for the choir to sing at the Senior Service and for Seniors from the choir to sing at Graduation. Cindy Straley served as President and Patti Mellish Treasurer this year. Cindy Straley and John Hurley were selected by audition to sing in the All-State Chorus at the Washington Music Education Convention in Richland In March.
