GIRLS TAKE OVER SBA OFFICERS: Karen Kneeland, Vice President; Kim Kelly, Secretary-Treasurer; Vicki Swanson, Inter-High; Mr. Mellish, Advisor; Lynn Rastelli, President. This year all four Student Council positions were captured by girls. Lynn Rastelli took office as President in September after having spent a week at leadership camp, from which she brought back various new money-making ideas and projects. Among the things Student Council did this year were the funding and putting on of the Home- coming Dance and helping in the purchase of the Seamont League Banner. Lynn Rastelli, Karen Kneeland and Mr. Mellish go to an Inter-High Meeting.

KICKS OFF HOMECOMING A successful spirit week tradition- ally preceded White River High's homecoming. Sponsored by Girls' Club, activities included special days for crazy hats, knickers, mis- matched socks, frizzed hair, spaghetti-eating contests, pie throwing at the faculty and a few courageous students, dress-up day, and of course, 1949 day. On Friday, October 19, a luncheon for the royalty, faculty, judges, and various dignitaries was held. Each candidate took a turn talking to the judges, who evaluated them At the afternoon assembly, with the theme Just You and Me , Marcy Hanson introduced the can- didates for King and Queen. While the judges were making their de- cision, the student body and alumni were entertained by Choir, Stage Band, and student pep skits. Also making an appearance were the spirits of 1949 resurrected in the form of the White River faculty. Following the assembly, faculty, students, and alumni were invited to the Alumni Tea, put on by Honor Society. Although the Hornets put up a valiant fight, they were defeated by the Curtis Vikings, with the final score being 34-14. Sudden Maddness provided the music for the Saturday night for- mal dance.
