Editors, and Judy Phillips and Betty Ann Inglin, Assistant Editors, saw to it that the students got the news hot off the press every two weeks without fail. One of the highlights of the year was the Pacific Slope School Press Conference held in Seattle and at- tended by staff members. The Hornet is a member of Pacific Slope School Press and Quill and Scroll. This year eight staff mem- bers were elected to Quill and Scroll, national Journal- ism honorary society. Ellison. “Bread is the staff of life, but that is no reason why the life of the Staff should be one long loaf.” This is the motto of this year’s annual staff as they strove to produce the best annual ever to be received by the students of White River High School. Whenever a deadline approached, the members of the staff were to be seen keeping the mid- night oil burning in order to meet that deadline. There were always the last minute rushes, pictures that couldn’t be found, and the stories that hadn’t been written. At times such as these, the members of the staff unselfishly donated their time and effort to bring to the students an annual of which they could be proud. However, the task could not have been accomplished without the efficiency of the editor, Patsy Baker; the co-editor, Willabclle Rinell; and the adviser, Mrs. Borgstrom. To bring back memories, the Alumni joined us for our “Moments to Remember” Homecoming, which we celebrated with an assembly in the afternoon and a football game and dance in the evening. Everyone was put into the Christmas spirit when the girls es- corted the boys to the formal Tolo, with “Christmas Bells” as the theme. The Mother-Daughter Banquet, held in May, was put on by the Junior girls for the Senior girls and their mothers. Our last big event was the Mother’s Tea, where everyone enjoyed seeing the formal installation of next year’s officers. Vice-President, Shirley Trullinger; Secretary, Ells- worth Hackmann.
