Art Svidran. fullback. made a success out of his last year for the Mountaineers when he compiled 88 points to lead in the individual scoring department and thus gained a berth on all conference first team. Dave Smith, besides being captain and calling plays. played outstand- ingly at his right end position and for the third straight year landed a place on all conference, Lloyd Blanusa. playing on first string for the first time. did a fine job of snagging passes out of thin air and other player's hands to be chosen on all conference second team. Bob Demko. the only Buckley Junior to place on the all conference team, captured his all conference position for his second consecutive year by playing the same very good game at guard. Although handicapped by the absence of experienced material. Coach Bill Ames put to the feilcl a scrappy team that copped third place in the league standing with the winning of seven games and the losing of two. Starting off in high gear the Mounts dumped the big l.ake XVashington eleven. 33-7: only to be at the short end of a I0-6 score after a trip to Puyallup. Against the Highline Pirates the Mountaineers scored twice in the fourth quarter to win I9-7. The Renton game proved to be a thriller with the Mounts nosing out the Indians 1'5- l-4. Clover Park handed the Mounts their second and last defeat hy a score of 19-7. The grudge game of the season. Buckley versus linumclaw, proved to be one sided when the Mountaineers trampled the Tigers 30-6. ln a water filled sand pit at Kent. the Vandals went down I0-6 and Auburn became the next victims and fell 26-7. The final game of the season at Sumner proved to be a thriller when the Buckley eleven. trailing in the first half. 7-O. came back to defeat the Spartans 15-13. ln compiling l78 points to their opponents 97 this vear's squad has scored more points than any other team coached by Bill Ames in his eight years at Buckley. All in all for the si7e of the student body enrolled at Buckley. the team should he congratulated for their achievements of the season.
